Position Context:

The Flawed Journey is a small team currently of 2 therapists working in private practice both face-face & online with clients. Services provided include: Individual Counselling, Couple Counselling, Group Counselling, Mental Health Advocacy and referral attracting new clients to The Flawed Journey.

The Flawed Journey currently work with both male & female adolescents aged 13-17 and adults from 18 years old. We work closely with young adults in Sydney living abroad as an expat and Online with clients based in Ireland, UK, Australia & New Zealand. 

Position Summary:

We want Counsellors who will collaborate with The Flawed Journey team, sharing ideas, values and experiences that will continue the company's growth.

Our positions require:

  • Strong well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, enabling you to communicate with a broad range of individuals.

  • Must be motivated, energetic, driven and determined to expand and learn within the field of supporting individuals with their mental health which involves participation in ongoing short / CPD courses.

  • Confidence with providing relevant information, guidance, advice, referral and specialist Counselling support to clients seeking our services.

  • Promote and enhance the social and emotional health and well-being of individuals through our services.

  • Respond to clients seeking our services in person / online and carry out FREE 20 minute phone call consultations with all new clients who reach out.

  • Conduct assessment and provide culturally appropriate Counselling support.

  • Develop and maintain networks with appropriate organisations where possible referral paths can be arranged.

  • Participate in regular clinical external supervision.

  • Manage your own caseload of clients beginning with a maximum of 3 clients per day (average 10-13 clients per week) during a 3 month probation period.

  • Consider a 6 month contract and once pass probation period can discuss possible permanent role depending on performance reviews.

  • Role would be begin initially part-time and be based per current clientele (hours of work & income will differ until reach full-time clientele).

  • Maintain thorough case records, invoicing reports and client files. 

  • Attend and participate in ongoing staff meetings weekly & monthly performance review checks.

  • Report as required of any identified risks, barriers / difficulties directly to business owner to assist and advice of next steps.

  • Ideally based in Ireland, UK, Australia, New Zealand however this would not impact your application.

Essential:

  • Counselling tertiary qualifications and minimum of 1 years experience providing counselling services and group work involving experience of providing counselling to individuals suffering with depression, relationship issues, domestic violence, anxiety, grief / loss, trauma issues.

  • Must hold current membership of an accredited counselling professionals organisation.

  • Experience in the delivery of therapeutic group work and promoting mental health activities.

  • Must be willing to hold indemnity insurance (at own expense).

  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and cooperatively as part of a team.

  • Good planning, structure, problem solving and evaluation skills.

  • Strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrated administration skills with ability to use Microsoft Office programs and quickly adapt to new programs.

  • A number of probity checks are required including a thorough background check and involving undertaking a National police check.
